Description

As recycled PET (rPET) becomes increasingly central to circular packaging strategies, repeated recycling cycles introduce significant challenges—particularly in color stability, mechanical integrity, and food-contact suitability. In some regions, the color quality of rPET has deteriorated to levels that are no longer acceptable.

CircStab® is a novel stabilizer that addresses these issues. Incorporated during the melt phase of rPET reprocessing, it prevents degradation and preserves key performance parameters including L*, b*, intrinsic viscosity, and acetaldehyde formation. The result is higher quality rPET with less yellowing, minimal impact on clarity, and improved mechanical strength.

The additive has received APR Design for Recyclability Recognition and RecyClass Technology Approval for use up to 0.2% in PET, with EPBP certification pending. CircStab® is generating strong market interest, and Holland Colours supports customers with comprehensive technical and regulatory guidance to ensure peace of mind. This presentation will share technical data, application insights, and milestones, demonstrating how CircStab® enhances rPET performance and supports scalable circularity in PET packaging.
