The keynote will explore strategies for achieving a sustainable, circular, and low-carbon aluminium beverage can industry. It will provide insights into beverage can market trends across Europe, North America, and other regions, alongside an overview of the aluminium can sheet industry. A key focus will be the policy frameworks that support circularity, including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes, their success factors, european experiences, and global implementation of such policies. Discussions will also cover packaging return systems, looking at voluntary initiatives and deposit-based models. The speech will highlight pathways to effective circularity and sustainability, emphasizing the role of circularity in aluminium decarbonization and the transition to low-carbon aluminium. I will share best practices and innovative approaches to enhancing recycling, reducing carbon footprints, and strengthening the aluminium can’s role in a sustainable future.
