Avantium is a pioneer in developing renewable technologies to accelerate the transition to a fossil-free world. Our lead product is Releaf®, the 100% bio-based and recyclable packaging material PEF (polyethylene furanoate). Releaf® is going beyond conventional offerings with impressive barrier properties and higher mechanical strength, making it an excellent packaging material for carbonated as well as non-carbonated beverages, and more. Our collaborations with companies like Carlsberg,  Ambev and retailers like Albert Heijn, to name a few, is a testimony to the solution that this alternative packaging material provides. The production of PEF will soon begin from the world’s first factory, based in the Netherlands. In this talk, we will sketch the opportunity for the packaging industry to switch to a packaging material that speaks to the environmentally conscious consumers of today.
