Description

A number of plastic packaging considerations have become more salient for converters in recent years.  Those considerations include: changing customer preferences, new regulations, expectations for sustainability, consumer pressures (“war on plastics”), economic pressures, molding asset condition and capabilities, and shifting logistical concerns.  Fulfilling new expectations for rigid packaging is challenged by several factors: a production base reliant on older converting technologies, low cost-to-performance of newer and recycled materials, supply chains with fixed features that limit package design options.  This presentation will highlight some innovative “work-arounds” solutions that converters have achieved, and some of the opportunities for significant disruption to rigid packaging converting industry.
