Description

Beverage packaging is under great pressure to evolve and meet a range of new requirements. Sustainability is a critical requirement; packaging innovation is also driven by rising e-commerce, increasingly health-conscious consumers, and a growing competition. Producers need solutions that reduce the use of virgin resin, improve recyclability, reduce carbon footprint and enable a circular economy. At the same time, packaging needs to meet strict performance demands, achieve target costs and help drive shelf appeal with unique aesthetics.

To satisfy these tough requirements, Husky has developed a range of sustainable barrier solutions that offer superior alternatives to established forms of packaging. CSD bottles can benefit from 25% reduction in the use or PET or rPET. Juices, ready-to-drink teas/coffees, functional drinks and dairy can reach their target shelf life with less than half of the typical amount of oxygen barrier material. Bottles for shelf-stable dairy can provide complete light blocking without expensive sleeves or high loadings of TiO2; instead allowing up to 25% opaque rPET content. Global market leaders are maximizing the potential of PET and taking market share from aluminum cans, glass and cartons by increasingly adopting Husky’s breakthrough barrier technology.
